Mary is an experienced HR and communication professional with a passion for helping people master the skills necessary to succeed in the world of work, whether as an employee or small business owner. Mary started her career in advertising and public relations (which involved a lot of writing), then transitioned into higher education and operations management before becoming a small business owner in 2003. She is a partner in a corporate training and consulting business and teaches at a community college, while also continuing to write professionally. Mary began accepting freelance writing assignments in 2007, with bylines in publications such as Study.com, LoveToKnow Media, Demand Media, Mashed, and Money Digest amongst many others.

Mary has a master's degree in communication from Auburn University and a bachelor's degree in business communication from Spring Hill College.
