10 Hot Steakhouses Seeing The Fastest Growth In America
While there are a lot of things the upper-class almost never spend money on, steak apparently gets a pass. According to data provided by internet scraping service Smartscrapers, there were 15,948 steakhouses in the U.S. as of April 2026. While keeping any restaurant open can be a challenge, getting a steakhouse to thrive and grow can be an especially tall order. On Technomic's annual roundup of the Top 500 Chain Restaurants in the U.S., only a handful of steakhouses made the list in 2025 (via Restaurant Business). Of the ones that did, even fewer show signs of active growth in recent years, and those are the ones we're highlighting on this list.
Whether high-end or casual, the big differentiators influencing the success and growth of the modern steakhouse are the revenue it generates, annual sales growth, increased traffic, and the number of locations it manages to open. Not every brand shares all of these figures publicly, but of the data that's available, these 10 hot steakhouses are exhibiting particular signs of growth in these areas. It's worth noting that some of the most public financial data out there involving many of these companies is annual sales figures. While helpful, they can skew the perception of growth when taken as a single determinant of it, as factors like inflation impact this data more severely than figures like revenue and profits. Still, between major franchises operating under bigger parent companies and a few independent steakhouses that have made their way onto Technomic's MVP list, these are the steakhouse chains on the up and up.
STK
With the number of ways people waste their money at restaurants, it's a good idea to know where you'll get the best overall bang for your buck. STK, as per Technomic, via Restaurant Business, seems to be offering just that based on the $220 million in sales it achieved in 2024. With 27 locations in the U.S. — 10 more than Technomic listed were active in 2023 — the steakhouse is going gangbusters, and this doesn't even include the three locations in Europe, two locations in Canada, or the two in the Middle East. According to FSR, the chain pulled itself out of a dismal 10 quarters of losses in early 2026. Between the fourth quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, STK's sales inched up from .3% to 1.4%, with its profit margins climbing from 2.8% to 21% in the same time period.
Figures from a press release by STK's parent company The ONE Group also highlight the brand's recent growth. An underperforming RA Sushi establishment converted into a STK in 2025 earned $7 million in annual sales after the company spent around $1 million dollars on the renovation. In 2025, there were no less than four new STK locations opened, and the company went into 2026 preparing to launch at least one more in New York and another in Phoenix, Arizona. Foot traffic remains high, with 8,000 new diners subscribing to STK's "Friends with Benefits" program each week, per FSR.
Perry's Steakhouse & Grille
With 23 locations across the U.S. and another in the works as of June 2026, Perry's Steakhouse & Grille is on the rise. According to Technomic, via Restaurant Business, Perry's Steakhouse & Grille was ranked No. 158 of the list of the top 500 restaurants in the U.S., earning sales of $292 million in 2024. When comparing these figures against Technomic's previous annual earnings, the restaurant's trajectory is clear: Perry's steakhouses earned $231 million in sales in 2022 with a total of 20 restaurants in the U.S., followed by $257 million in sales in 2023. That same year, it added an extra restaurant to its ranks, totaling 21, before growing by another two locations in 2024.
This demonstrates growth across different verticals: The number of the chain's physical brick-and-mortar locations and its financials indicate a consistent rise across several years. All told, the chain's earnings rose $61 million from 2022 to 2024, marking an increase of just over 26% in sales.
Firebirds Wood Fired Grill
According to Technomic, via Restaurant Business, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill operated 64 restaurants in 2024, with $375 million in sales. Ranked No. 132 out of the 500 top restaurants in the U.S. in 2025, the steakhouse made the same Technomic list in both 2023 and 2024 as well, earning $295 million in sales in 2022 with 56 outlets and $338 million in sales in 2023 with 60 outlets. By the end of 2025, per FSR, the restaurant chain had opened five more locations for a total of 69, with plans for seven more restaurants in 2026 and several more in 2027. Whether you look at physical locations, sales numbers, or popularity, it's easy to make the argument that Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is on a growth trajectory in an era when even the largest fast-food restaurant chain in America is struggling with mass closures.
CEO Steve Kislow, interviewed in FSR, credits investments in technology like AI, special attention to ambiance in smaller restaurants, and a widely appealing menu that's friendly to customers with a range of different budgets for the chain's success. He also revealed the company's recently implemented business analytics division has also played a part in its success, noting, "[Those in the analytics department] really understand from a more granular standpoint the impacts on the business, which helps us make the right decisions."
Texas de Brazil
With 55 locations in 23 states, the Brazilian steakhouse Texas de Brazil has been a consistent entrant to Technomic's lists of top-performing chains. For 2025, Technomic, via Restaurant Business, ranked Texas de Brazil No. 122 out 500, with $411 million in sales courtesy of 55 outlets across the country in 2024. The growth is evident from previous years on Technomic's list, with $381 million in sales in 2023 with 54 steakhouses, and $350 million in sales earned in 2022 with 53 restaurants.
While Texas de Brazil has closed restaurants in international locations — namely all its steakhouses in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) — the chain's website indicates there are at least eight new U.S. locations and at least one new international restaurant slated to open in 2026. So, as far as the North American market is concerned, sales numbers are on the rise, the chain is planning for continued expansion, and the restaurant remains a top steakhouse in the nation. For those that already have a Texas de Brazil nearby, an April 2026 PRNewswire release also highlights that the chain also expanded its menu, so even loyal customers can experience something new there.
Benihana
Inarguably, growth is on the mind for Benihana's parent company, The ONE Group. As Technomic reports, Benihana sits in the No. 105 slot on the publication's list of the top 500 restaurants in the U.S (via Restaurant Business). In 2024, the steakhouse generated $523 million in sales, with 81 Benihana outlets in the U.S. While widely known as a hibachi restaurant, Benihana bills itself as a Japanese steakhouse that excels at grilling USDA Choice cuts of beef on its grills.
According to a March 2026 press release, The ONE Group reported that 2025 saw the opening of three restaurants, with two more under construction as of 2026. Additionally, it signed contractual agreements for 10 franchise locations for the San Francisco Bay Area, and three Benihana outlets — two of which will be full-blown restaurants — in the Florida Keys. Not many restaurants can boast the planned launch of over a dozen new restaurants in a year, and, per a May 2026 U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) report, The ONE Group appears to be carefully plotting out that growth while improving Benihana's profit margins by 1.3% in Q1 2026.
The Capital Grille
According to The Capital Grille's website, there are 79 Capital Grille locations in operation as of June 2026. That marks an increase of eight locations since May 2025, according to the chain's parent company Darden. According to Technomic, via Restaurant Business, The Capital Grille landed in the No. 96 slot for the top restaurants in the U.S. in 2025, thanks to $582 million in sales in 2024 across 66 U.S.-based restaurants. By comparison, the same Technomic list for previous years placed The Capital Grille's sales earnings at $571 million with 62 U.S. locations in 2023.
In Spring 2026, alone, at least two new Capital Grille locations opened in the U.S., and the 1110 KFAB news radio program "Grow Omaha" revealed that the chain also has plans to build an over-9,000-foot steakhouse in Omaha in 2026. The growth of the brand isn't just reflected in physical locations or sales, either: According to Zacks, Darden as a whole saw its stock rise almost 17% from December 2025 to June 2026, which is an indication that the brands under its purview are on an upward trajectory as well.
Ruth's Chris Steak House
As one of the most popular steakhouse chains in the U.S., Ruth's Chris Steak House offers American diners 137 locations to choose from. According to Technomic, via Restaurant Business, that's an expansion of four more locations from 2024. With sales in 2024 reaching $805 million, it could be fair to say that the chain's placement in the 67th slot for the roundup of the top restaurants in the U.S. is reflected in its sales earnings. In 2023, per Technomic's lists from past years, Ruth's Chris had 132 steakhouses operating in the U.S., marking a consistent increase from the 129 restaurants it had in operation in 2021 and the $636 million in sales it achieved that year.
There's a lot working in Ruth's Chris' favor regarding its growth trajectory, and the fact that it only serves USDA Prime meat suggests that it's managing overhead expenses well enough to only serve the best of the best. However, Ruth's Chris is also one of the popular restaurant chains with happy hours that can save diners money, and this broader accessibility to consumers on a budget likely also informs its steady growth.
Outback Steakhouse
Outback Steakhouse operates out of an impressive 44 U.S. states, with hundreds of locations in the U.S. and active stores in 14 other countries. According to the Technomic annual listing of the top 500 restaurants in the nation, courtesy of Restaurant Business, Outback Steakhouse was given the No. 35 slot in 2025 and earned sales of over $2.7 billion in 2024 with 675 restaurants in the country.
Where better-quality steak is concerned, apparently knowing how to get the best cuts of steak on the cheap is important for a steakhouse as for an individual in the grocery store. In this pursuit, Outback has gone to great effort in recent years to revamp aspects of its business model and saw a 0.9% increase in foot traffic in Q4 2025 compared to its Q4 2024 performance, per parent company Bloomin' Brands.
With new Outback Steakhouses already announced in the first quarter of 2026, including a new location in West Boca Raton, Florida, one in Raleigh, North Carolina, and another in Hamlin, Florida, it's safe to say Outback Steakhouse is on the growth train.
LongHorn Steakhouse
According to a March 2026 press release by parent company Darden, LongHorn Steakhouse's Fiscal Year 2026 was on a successful track at the end of its third quarter. The company had already earned just over $2.4 billion in sales with around $420 million of that counted as profit. Both these figures marked a year-over-year increase from the end of 2025's Q3, which saw $2.2 billion in total sales for the brand and less than $415 million in profit. Underscoring the company's improving financials, both of those Q3 year-to-date sales figures are comparable to the full-year sales the company saw in previous years: According to Technomics, via Restaurant Business, LongHorn Steakhouses earned over $2.8 billion in sales in 2023 while operating 580 steakhouses in the U.S. The following year, the publication reported LongHorn Steakhouse operated 594 steakhouses in 2024 and brought in over $3 billion in sales, which grew to 610 restaurants and almost $3.3 billion in sales by the end of 2025. That's 30 more steakhouses opened and nearly $500 million in additional sales earnings over the course of just two years.
According to April 2026 data collected by ScrapeHero, there were 638 LongHorn Steakhouse locations in 544 cities across the country as of April 14, 2026. With consistent physical and financial growth recorded from 2022 to 2026, it would be difficult to make any argument against the rapid growth of this steakhouse chain.
Texas Roadhouse
As per Technomic's 2025 list of top 500 restaurants in the U.S., courtesy of Restaurant Business, the No. 15 chain restaurant — and the No. 1 steakhouse — in the country is Texas Roadhouse. According to a May 2026 Texas Roadhouse press release, the first quarter of 2026 shows total revenue of over $1.6 billion, an uptick of almost 13% from the $1.4 billion the company brought in in 2025. Adding to the growth story, the Q1 announcement also explains that comparable restaurant sales grew by 7.1% during this period. The company's Q1 2025 report shows that growth in these metrics is not unprecedented, as both revenue and comparable sales saw year-over-year increases from 2024 to 2025 as well.
At the end of the same quarter, the chain also reported it had 742 locations in the U.S. By comparison, in 2023, Technomics reports Texas Roadhouse had 638 steakhouses in the U.S. and less than 600 in 2022. So, there's evidence to suggest that Texas Roadhouse has continued to experience growth both in terms of its physical footprint and its financials in recent years.
