10 Rare Blu-Rays That Could Be Worth A Lot Of Money In 2026

Add Money Digest on Google:

As quietly as it's kept, not everyone has moved on from physical media. Though streaming services like Netflix and Hulu enjoy subscriptions from many millions of people, some Americans continue to buy and collect movies on Blu-ray. In fact, a report from the Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) revealed that DVD and Blu-ray sales hit $870 million in 2025, with some UHD Blu-ray discs seeing a 12% increase in demand, even without notable fourth-quarter movie releases.

Beyond movie entertainment, some people are determined to add specific Blu-ray discs and collections to their home for other reasons. Some old DVDs bought years back could actually be worth a lot of money today. For instance, some items were deliberately released on Blu-ray as part of a limited collection. In some cases, fewer than 10,000 copies were produced. Now, years later, the Blu-ray disc or collection is worth hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Even if not deliberately limited by a special release, sometimes Blu-rays end up going out of print (OOP) due to contract disputes or distribution rights lapsing. Suddenly, Blu-rays of decades-old movies become highly prized collectible items.

Maybe you're a movie buff who bought a collection for posterity or someone who never threw away your discs even as streaming became the norm. Whatever the case, if you happen to have any of the Blu-rays listed below, you could be sitting on a lot of money in 2026.

The Third Man (The Criterion Collection)

Many associate the late actor and filmmaker Orson Welles with his infamous 1938 "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast or his career magnum opus "Citizen Kane." Yet still others know Welles as the mysterious Harry Lime of the noir-thriller "The Third Man." Though originally released in 1949, "The Third Man" was later released on Blu-ray in December 2008 as part of the Criterion Collection.

While not a deliberate limited edition, a change was made between the 2008 and 2009 releases that impacted the rarity of the earlier copies. According to Blu-ray.com, the packaging was "upgraded to plastic in late 2009." Originally, "The Third Man: Criterion Collection" came inthin cardboard Digipak packaging with a slipcover. While some may have preferred the adjustment, the switch inadvertently created a few rare "The Third Man: Criterion Collection" Blu-ray packages, forever distinct and more valuable than later versions.

If you happen to have a copy of "The Third Man: Criterion Collection" and you want to know if it's worth a lot of money, there are a few key factors. First, be sure that it's part of the Criterion Collection. Also check that it was among the copies released in 2008, which featured the original cardboard Digipak packaging. Lastly, you'll want to be sure that the packaging is in good to mint condition. We saw that one copy of the 2008 "The Third Man: Criterion Collection" in great condition with that original, pre-change packaging sold on eBay for $149.99.

Gravity: Diamond Luxe Edition

Alfonso Cuarón's 2013 film "Gravity" is still a favorite space thriller, not just because of the popularity of stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, but also because of its award-winning sound editing. Reviewers noted scenes where the astronauts were in space were particularly harrowing due to the silence. The high-quality audio remains one of the major selling points of the "Gravity: Diamond Luxe Edition" Blu-ray release.

This 2015 release was actually the second time that Warner Bros. distributed "Gravity" on Blu-ray. What makes the "Diamond Luxe" version so popular with fans of the film is its sound options. For instance, it included an English Dolby Atmos soundtrack designed for immersive surround sound. Ideally, when paired with speakers in the right positions, viewers have the ability to create a uniquely spherical sound experience. This "Gravity" also came with a silent space version. Viewers could enjoy the movie without hearing the film score, experiencing only the dialogue and sound effects.

Though "Gravity" earned multiple Blu-ray releases within the last decade, the Diamond Luxe version has yet to be re-released. As such, this particular Blu-ray remains out of print, boosting its value substantially. Those interested in experiencing this version of the film admit having a hard time getting a copy. One reviewer who was seeking the "Gravity: Diamond Luxe Edition" admitted to coming across sellers offering the film for about $400. That said, we were able to find a copy that sold on eBay for $149.99.

Godzilla vs King Ghidorah / Godzilla vs Mothra Double Feature

In 2014, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment celebrated the 60th anniversary of the iconic Godzilla franchise by releasing eight films on Blu-ray. The "Toho Godzilla Collection" was made up of Godzilla movies primarily from the '90s and early 2000s. Among the releases was a double feature of the movies "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah" (1991) and "Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth" (1992). In the years since this release, the "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah/Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth" Blu-ray would come to be worth a surprising amount of money.

One reason that collectors are so eager to get their hands on this particular item is that it was part of a special release. Though not limited edition, the double feature has since gone out of print. Making things more complicated, Godzilla-Movies, reports that Sony lost its distribution rights for "Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth" and "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah." As such, there's no telling when these specific Godzilla films will end up on Blu-ray again. There's also no guarantee that if the distribution rights are picked up and these movies get rereleased, it will be as a double feature.

Because of this situation, the Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah/Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth double feature Blu-ray is currently worth a lot of money. We found that copies of this OOP Blu-ray in good condition sold for at least $135, with one copy successfully sold on eBay for $190.

The Vincent Price Collection, Volume II

If you adore Vincent Price and mid-20th century gothic horror, there's no doubt you've heard of the "Vincent Price Collection: Volume II" Blu-ray disc set. Some have even referred to the collection as a B-movie lover's dream.  Originally released in 2014 by Scream Factory, this collection features seven Price-led films: "The House on Haunted Hill," "The Return of the Fly," "The Comedy of Terrors," "The Raven," "The Last Man on Earth," "The Tomb of Ligeia," and "Dr. Phibes Rises Again."  The collection spans Price movies released between the late '50s and into early '70s.

The "Vincent Price Collection: Volume II" isn't just in high demand due to the popularity of the late actor. Following the collection's release by Scream Factory, it has since gone out of print. Distribution rights to individual Vincent Price films have changed over the years, which can complicate rereleasing an older box set. With this particular Vincent Price Blu-ray collection likely to remain OOP for the foreseeable future, collectors will have to search high and low across the Internet for their own copy. In our own search for this article, we determined copies of "Vincent Price Collection: Volume II" generally sold on eBay for around $325, with one listing selling for $329.99.

Airheads

A Blu-ray of the 1994 musical comedy "Airheads," which stars Brendan Fraser, Adam Sandler, and Steve Buscemi, is actually worth far more money than you would expect. The movie originally released on Blu-ray in 2013. At the time, the release came from 20th Century Fox, which Disney later acquired.

Despite becoming something of a cult classic, "Airheads" wasn't especially successful during its original theatrical run, and its Blu-ray edition has become difficult to find. Music licensing could be one factor complicating a rerelease, although there's no confirmed explanation for the Blu-ray's continued unavailability. The film features numerous licensed songs, which could complicate a future release if additional music rights needed to be negotiated. Some fear Disney doesn't see this film and its associated costs as worth the trouble of pushing for a fresh physical release. As such, people have been encouraged to hold onto their copies of "Airheads." Others might see it as a perfect time to make a profit.

We looked on eBay and found copies of "Airheads" had sold through the website for hundreds of dollars. One mint-condition Blu-ray went for $424.99. A common factor in the valuation is that the Blu-rays were offered in either gently used or mint condition, with the original packaging largely still intact.

The Monkees: Complete Series (50th Anniversary Release)

Back in 2016, Rhino celebrated the 50th anniversary of the hit musical-comedy TV show "The Monkees" by putting the entire series on Blu-ray. Interestingly, fans of the band and series weren't initially impressed with the release. There was reportedly skepticism regarding the quality of extras included with the anniversary release. Also worth noting were claims that the materials that the box set came with were too heavy, causing damage to the boxes themselves.

Despite those criticisms, the 50th Anniversary Edition would eventually become a difficult box set for collectors to find. Unfortunately, it was a "blink, and you'll miss it" opportunity for Monkees fans and collectors alike. Rhino only re-released the most popular episodes from the first season of "The Monkees" on DVD and Blu-ray in 2026. It's worth noting that while Rhino owns the TV and music rights, Sony Pictures holds streaming rights. Whether the complete series will receive another physical release remains uncertain.

For Monkees fans and collectors who do want the show, it's going to be tough to find, as the 50th Anniversary box set was limited to just 10,000 copies.  If you happen to own a mint condition, verified copy of "The Monkees: The Complete Series" 50th Anniversary release, you might be able to sell it for about $499.99. That's how much a sealed copy of the series went for in October 2026.

2009 and 2018 Terminator 2 Complete Collector's Sets

If you're a big fan of James Cameron's "Terminator" franchise, you may have wanted to get your hands on one of the complete collector's sets released over the years. Be it the really cool 2009 "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" release that came with a "Terminator" endoskull or the 2018 version that included an endoarm, both have become desirable collectibles. Some make the mistake of referring to these collections indistinguishably, but one thing is true: anyone who got a hold of either collector's edition now owns a Blu-ray set worth a lot of money.

The 2009 "Limited Edition Terminator 2: Judgment Day Complete Collector's Set" is notable for the really cool endoskull, which is actually large enough to store the included discs. After a reported delay, a similar collection was dropped in 2018, this time with a life-sized replica of the T-800 arm. According to Media Play News, that edition was limited to 6,000 copies. Limited production runs and distinctive collectible packaging can make sets like these difficult to find years after their original release. As such, "Terminator" fans are going to have a hard time guaranteeing they'll be able to get their hands on a collector's set that includes cool extras like T-800 memorabilia.

As of now, these Blu-ray collectibles are confirmed to be worth hundreds of dollars. For instance, when we checked eBay, we found that "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" Blu-ray endoskull collections sold on eBay for around $229. Meanwhile, the limited edition "Terminator 2" endoarm Blu-ray collections sold for as much as $599.99.

Breaking Bad Signed Gold Barrel Copies

The "Breaking Bad" series is often considered the best television series ever created, so it's only fitting that it also includes perhaps one of the rarest and most valuable Blu-ray sets ever released. Fans of the series will remember that in 2013, Sony Pictures Entertainment released a "Breaking Bad" collector's edition that included special footage and a collectible barrel. A year later, there was an even more exclusive release for the "Breaking Bad: Gold Barrel Collection." There were only 146 certified copies made for this second release based on a numbered authenticity insert inside the barrels.

Aside from its rarity, the "Breaking Bad Gold Barrel Collection" is also notable for including the gold autographs of series creator Vince Gilligan and lead actor Bryan Cranston. These features are very important for distinguishing the initial barrel-themed "Breaking Bad" collector's set from the far more exclusive gold signed barrel Blu-ray collection.

The "Breaking Bad: The Complete Series – Signed Limited Edition Gold Barrel" set originally sold for $599. However, owing to its exclusivity, anyone who made the investment would be surprised to know how much their Blu-ray collection is now worth. According to a post on WorthPoint, just two coins confirmed to be part of this extremely rare set were sold for $350. We were able to confirm that one of the signed limited-edition gold barrel sets went for as much as $1,250 on eBay. Still, these items are so rare that a complete set in excellent condition could potentially command a higher price.

Marvel Studios: The Infinity Saga Collector's Edition

Forget Thanos. The true final boss for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would have to have been the "Marvel Studios: The Infinity Saga Collector's Edition," released in 2019. Limited to around 4,000 copies, it was meant to be the opportunity for true MCU fans to own the first 23 movies as part of a single Blu-ray collection. It was originally a $549.99 Best Buy exclusive, which meant that if you weren't among the few thousand people who nabbed a copy, you wouldn't have been able to find it outside the secondary market.

Even around the time of release, it was noted that people were already selling "The Infinity Saga" Blu-ray collection on eBay for about $1,000. Several years have passed, and the collection has only grown more coveted. It could simply be a matter of supply and demand: Marvel has millions of fans, but only a few thousand copies of this particular collection were produced. If you happen to be one, you're holding onto a product worth a lot of money.

We found that as of 2026, copies of the "Marvel Studios The Infinity Saga Collectors Edition" Blu-ray box sets have sold on eBay for a lot of money. The highest completed sale we found for the collection went for $2,250.

Interstellar Manta Lab One-Click Steelbook Set

The "Interstellar" Manta Lab One-Click Steelbook set is an exceptionally rare Blu-ray collectible, as there were only 600 copies released in 2021. Whether you're a super fan of director Christopher Nolan or just a collector aiming to hold exclusive pieces of media, this is definitely an item to look out for, as it's actually worth quite a lot of money.

Manta Lab designed the One-Click SteelBook collectible, which came with far more than just the 4K Ultra HD version of "Interstellar." The collection also included things like miniatures, character cards, and special features about how the movie was made. Additionally, the box set stands apart due to the care taken with the packaging. For instance, the One Click Box has a glow-in-the-dark effect and a scratch-resistant coating.

Thanks to the combination of ultra-exclusivity, special features, and remarkable packaging, anyone who happens to own the Interstellar Manta Lab One-Click Steelbook Blu-ray Set could get a lot for it, even if the collection is gently used. If you happen to have a copy of this set in excellent condition, you should be able to command a great price. For instance, we checked eBay and found that in August 2026, a sealed, mint-condition copy of the "Interstellar" One-Click Manta Lab 4K Blu-ray SteelBook successfully sold for $2,499.50.
