3 Restaurant Chains With The Cheapest Steak Deals
Every once in a while, it's a good idea to treat yourself to something. That can be a piece of jewelry, a book you've been wanting to read, and for some, it's as simple as a juicy steak at a restaurant. But, with inflation and beef prices at an all-time high, it's getting harder to afford that treat. Over the past year, the cost of eating out has gone up 3.7%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Beef and veal in particular have gone up by 14.7% between September 2024 and September 2025 – thanks to factors like inflation, reduced supply, and tariffs. Not surprisingly, restaurants are responding to the pressure. Texas Roadhouse, the largest casual dining restaurant chain, raised its menu prices by 1.4% in April 2025 to cope with inflation in food and labor costs. As a result, steak dishes at restaurants — even at restaurant chains — are starting to feel more like a luxury, with the national average price of a rib-eye steak at $31.69, according to the Technomics Pricing Index Report.
Even then, you can still get lucky enough to find a steak meal under $20 if you know where to look for the best deals. Across all the major steakhouse restaurant chains, Texas Roadhouse, Outback Steakhouse, and Longhorn Steakhouse are some of the chains that still deliver budget options on sirloin steaks.
3 good steak deals that are still cheap and where to get them
According to Cargill's 2025 State of Steak report, over 90% of steaks ordered in restaurants are ordered at casual chains. So it makes sense that the best deals are found in popular steakhouses.
Topping the list is the Texas Roadhouse. While its most popular menu item is its freshly baked rolls, the menu offers 10 different steak options. For a cheap total, the hack is to order the Road Kill, a chop steak smothered with mushrooms, onions, and cheese. But if you're there for the meat, you'll find a better deal in the Hand-cut sirloin steak. While the price varies across locations, Teteboro, NJ, offers it for $14.99. The great deal gets you two different sides, and you get to pick from a wide range of options — from salads to potatoes, rice, and vegetables.
Next up is the recently recovered Longhorn Steakhouse, with up to eight steak options, all in the range of $27 – $39. But you can rest easy, cause there's still a budget option in the Renegade Sirloin for $18.99, the Renegade Sirloin is the only steak under $20. On the website, the restaurant describes it as a lean and hearty center-cut sirloin, and the price covers the meat and two sides of your choosing. Again, side options are standard: rice, vegetable options, salads, and potatoes.
Finally, there's Outback Steakhouse. On the menu, they have nine steak options, all priced similarly to the Longhorn menu range. But the best deal is in the Outback Center-Cut Sirloin. The standard size 6-oz steak goes for $17.99 at the Brooklyn, New York, branch and comes with two side options. Sides are classified under soups & salads, potatoes, classic (rice), and premium sides.
In terms of which has the best deal, it's not a clear choice. All three deals give you the same meal: a 6-ounce sirloin steak and two sides. If the category is price only, Texas Roadhouse comes out on top with a price tag 2 – 3 dollars below the others. Taste, on the other hand, can be subjective, but a couple of reviews named Texas Roadhouse as the one to visit.
