Store Chains With The Most Affordable Thanksgiving Turkey Deals
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.
For those looking to stretch their food budget this holiday season, there's some good news ahead when it comes to the price of a traditional Thanksgiving meal you prepare and cook at home. Despite higher grocery costs, many Americans can still get a turkey dinner complete with all of the traditional trimmings (and a side of pie!) for an affordable price this November. The twist is, shoppers may need to swap out a few name brand items for store labels to keep the cost down. Several national retail chains have lowered prices on certain items to bring a turkey dinner down to roughly $4 per person for a party of 10 — with one grocery store company coming in at less than $36 for a meal consisting of turkey and sides that serves 10, not including tax, of course.
That's welcome news to many families among rising U.S. food prices and the economic uncertainty stemming from thousands of federal employees not being paid during the recent government shutdown. And with the other winter holidays right around the corner, it's always helpful to save as much as possible as we enter the most expensive time of the year. So whether you are shopping for a Friendsgiving, a Thanksgiving, or any other late November gathering where a prized fowl will take center stage, here are nine store chains (and one online mega giant) with lower-than-expected prices for Thanksgiving turkey dinner deals.
ALDI offering a Thanksgiving meal for 10 at $40
Those who live within driving distance of one of the 2,610 ALDI grocery store locations in the U.S. can score what the discount grocer describes as a full holiday feast for 10 people priced at $40 — or about $4 per person — according to its 2025 Thanksgiving store circulars. This cost-saving deal includes a 14-pound Jenny-O brand turkey and the ingredients for nine holiday-inspired sides, including everything from cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, rolls, and pumpkin pie. Hungry yet?
Those who already frequent the low-cost grocer know a great thing about ALDI is that no coupons, codes, or special memberships are required to score this or any other deal. Just show up, pay a quarter to use a shopping cart and then add the items to your buggy in the market. For the uninitiated, shoppers get their quarter back when they return the cart to the corral in front of the stores. Officials with ALDI say in a news release this $40 turkey dinner is even lower than last year's Thanksgiving offerings, reflecting the chain's commitment to value amid rising grocery costs. Shopping pro tip: Online prices for ALDI may vary slightly from in-store prices, depending on where you live.
Turkey dinner for 10 at Lidl US stores priced near $36
Black Friday inspired pricing will come early for Lidl shoppers in the U.S. who are looking to score deep discounts on their Thanksgiving spread before the big day. According to a news release from Lidl, the company has launched one of the most budget-friendly Thanksgiving bundles of the season: dinner for 10 for under $36, which breaks down to less than $3.60 per person, cheaper than a store-bought pumpkin-spice latte at most coffee chains. The meal is similar to the one being advertised by ALDI and includes a 14-pound Shady Brooks Farm frozen whole turkey, plus the ingredients you would expect for stuffing, gravy, rolls, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. The $36 price point for a traditional turkey dinner for 10 is about $10 less than Lidl charged for a Thanksgiving dinner last year, according to the news release. The advertised savings continue through Wednesday, November 26.
There are a few caveats. To score this deal, shoppers will need to select Lidl store brands for most items — except for things such as French's fried onions which traditionally top a green bean casserole. Shoppers will also need to download the MyLidl app, if they don't already have it, to get the advertised price for the turkey. Because the items are sold individually, instead of being preassembled, shoppers potentially have more flexibility to pick and choose based on individual tastes.
Walmart rolls out $40 turkey dinner for 10
Walmart has long offered low-priced holiday meals. This November, Walmart is advertising a Thanksgiving meal priced at under $4 per person, for a 10-person spread, which adds up to about $40. That price is reported to be the lowest price since Walmart launched the program in 2022, according to a press release from the company. Walmart describes this Thanksgiving meal in terms of a basket, which is meant to be enough to feed 10 people, and includes more than 20 items to choose from, including a Butterball brand turkey, stuffing mix, potatoes, fried onions, pie crusts, and prepackaged macaroni and cheese in a box. Walmart noted in the news release that the per-person cost reflected "its value focus amid inflation-driven grocery cost pressures."
Savvy shoppers can even get this deal without leaving the comfort of their home or car. From now until December 25, Walmart is offering free express delivery on the meal basket for first-time Pickup and Delivery customers. This holiday turkey dinner deal can also be ordered with a single click online, or purchased in stores across the nation.
Amazon offers turkey dinner for five priced at $25
With a firm nod to smaller holiday gatherings of five or less, the online retailer Amazon is offering a Thanksgiving meal bundle priced at $25 that is designed to serve four people plus one — which works out to about $5 per person, according to a report from USAToday. This low-cost package includes an eight-pound frozen Butterball turkey, ready-to-bake crescent rolls and other heat-and-eat sides including mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry relish and a choice of one of the following holiday pies: sweet potato, pumpkin, or pecan. The deal is available through Thanksgiving Day on November 27, and is geared toward making the holiday more affordable for smaller households.
Amazon is utilizing its grocery network, which includes Whole Foods Markets nationwide and Amazon Fresh to be able to offer the meal bundle online, in stores and also through same-day delivery in certain eligible areas of the U.S. And while you do not have to be an Amazon Prime member to shop with Amazon Fresh and buy the $25 turkey dinner deals, Amazon Prime members will have access to an exclusive grocery delivery subscription, special benefits and deals online and in-store, notes Amazon.
A turkey dinner from Target for under $20 for four
While they may be better known for affordable fashion and home goods, Target stores also sell groceries at many locations and are offering a 2025 Thanksgiving meal deal that can serve four people and is priced at under $20, which breaks down to less than $5 per person. That price point makes it one of the most affordable among major retailers this year, and is even lower than what Target offered a similar style meal for in 2024, according to a press release from the company. The advertised Thanksgiving package includes a Good & Gather brand premium basted young frozen turkey (up to 10 pounds), a five-pound bag of russet potatoes, Ocean Spray cranberry sauce, Stove Top brand stuffing mix, Heinz turkey gravy, Favorite Day French bread and Good & Gather frozen corn. The retailer notes that its Good & Gather brand frozen turkey is priced at $0.79 per pound for the holidays, emphasizing budget-friendly pricing for seasonal meals.
Whether you have just a few people to feed or you would like to send the gift of a whole turkey dinner to someone special, it's hard to go wrong with this Target offering. And with almost 2,000 stores in the U.S., Target shoppers can make their day even more convenient and use the retailer's delivery and drive-up options which include same day delivery, an order pickup option and drive up, plus two-day shipping and next-day delivery for orders above $35. Protip: The special pricing for Target's Thanksgiving dinner deal extends through November 29 and does not include taxes. The offer is not available in Alaska or Hawaii.
Costco offering prepackaged $42 turkey meal
You might want to file this one under super secret Thanksgiving meal deals. While it's not nearly as cheap as the cult favorite rotisserie chicken, Costco is reportedly selling a $42 prepackaged Thanksgiving meal in the deli section of some U.S. locations, but it's only offered in stores and has not been specifically announced, according to social influencer Elliott Norris. A video on his Instagram page shows a shopper holding up what he describes as a big piece of seasoned turkey with stuffing underneath, plus heat and eat mashed potatoes and gravy, and cranberry sauce for about $42. The social influencer says he added a container of macaroni and cheese for $11.99 to round out his meal.
This in-store deal seems significantly less expensive than Costco's advertised Thanksgiving meal kit for 2025, described by The Takeout as a complete gourmet Thanksgiving turkey dinner that serves about 10 people and retails for about $200 (with $69.99 in instant savings for those who buy early). Shopping at Costco is for members only and requires the purchase of an annual membership that starts at $65 per year.
Sam's Club selling turkey dinner for 10 for $100
While not quite as affordably-priced as some U.S. grocery chain holiday meal deals, Sam's Club is offering its 2025 Member's Mark Thanksgiving Feast package that ticks in at just under $100. The dinner is advertised to serve up to 10 people, meaning the per-person price comes in at just under $10. The turkey dinner, available at most of its 600 club locations to those with a Sam's Club membership, includes nine separate dishes. So, what's on the menu? The more upscale items include a smoked turkey, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, yeast dinner rolls, pumpkin pie, green beans with cranberries and almonds, garlic-buttered corn, a salad and a sweet potato dish. A division of Walmart, Sam's Club members can shop for the entire Thanksgiving meal online or in the store, and then either pick it up curbside or with the club's express delivery for "plus members" for an additional $8.
Turkey dinner from Trader Joe's priced at $45
Specialty grocer Trader Joe's has rolled out its 2025 Thanksgiving turkey and holiday offerings, though it hasn't prominently advertised a fixed-bundle price like many of the other U.S. grocery chains mentioned previously. When it comes to the fan favorite, turkey prices often depend on the size of the bird purchased, if it's organic, as well as regional availability. For those looking to feed only a few people, Spoon University figured out how to create a Thanksgiving meal shopping only at Trader Joe's for about $45. This dinner starts with a fully-cooked bone-in brined half turkey breast that weighs about 2.5 pounds and is priced at $25. Add to that a package of vanilla bean whipped sweet potatoes, also a store brand, for about $6. Throw in a specialty bagged salad for $4 and the most adorable Teeny Tiny Pies advertised at $5.49 (for four) and you have barely passed the $40 mark.
If you are counting every penny, it pays to be cautious when selecting menu items that will go into your holiday meal. And while some brands at Trader Joe's are hands-down cheaper than you can find anywhere else, other food staples — including some produce – may cost more than some national discount retailers.
Publix offering turkey dinner for under $70 that serves eight
Known for its heart-felt holiday commercials and buy-one-get-one deals, the regional grocery store chain Publix is offering shoppers several meal deals designed to serve groups that range in size from three to up to 15 people. When it comes to the most affordable options available, Publix advertises several dinners priced at $69.99 (before tax) that are suggested to serve up to eight people. That works out to $8.75 or so per person for a pre-cooked heat-and-serve meal. Which means you won't have to spend hours defrosting, brining and basting a bird that may or not turn out to be what you hoped for.
This particular turkey dinner from Publix includes a fully cooked turkey that weighs between nine and 12 and a half pounds, plus a variety of sides from the store's deli section including 2.5 pounds of Publix brand cornbread dressing, 2.5 pounds of Publix brand homestyle Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, 16 ounces of Publix Cranberry Orange Relish, 26 ounces of Publix Marshmallow Delight and 32 ounces of Publix Homestyle Gravy.
Kroger selling turkey dinner for 10 for under $48
With more than 2,731 retail stores in 35 states, Kroger launched what it's describing as a 2025 Freshgiving meal bundle in November, offering grocery shoppers a turkey dinner for 10 at a cost of less than $4.75 per person. The total meal, which is priced at just under $48 before taxes, includes a Kroger brand whole frozen turkey (that weighs in at between 14 and 16 pounds) plus stuffing, chicken broth, corn, baby carrots, whole berry cranberry sauce, Sweet Jewel brand yams, Idaho potatoes, Campbell's turkey gravy, sliced green beans, Kroger brand cream of mushroom soup, fried onions, brown-and-serve rolls, ready-to-bake pie crusts, canned pumpkin puree and Kroger brand whipped topping. Kroger notes in its news release that prices and products may vary depending on the location of the store — with brands including King Soopers, Fry's, and others under the Kroger label in various parts of the country.
