The Most Expensive Celebrity Toilets Ever Purchased

One of the dumbest things you can spend your money on is a house that does not fit your lifestyle. With that said, it isn't entirely crazy that the rich and famous are willing to spend big bucks on remodels for their luxurious homes. In particular, the bathrooms in their homes. After all, if celebrities are willing to make expensive purchases on things like flowers, designer mattresses, shrunken heads, a walnut farm, or even a ticket to space, why not invest in making sure the call of nature is a comfortable experience?

According to The U.S. Sun, Kim Kardashian, Drake, and Jennifer Lopez are just a few of the celebrities who have opted to invest more than $21,000 each on luxury toilets and bidets made by Toto, a Japanese corporation known for its smart toilets. Drake even opted to give four Toto toilets to his friend, DJ Khaled, as a gift. However, these aren't the most expensive celebrity toilets. That honor belongs to Kim Kardashian and Kayne "Ye" West who, when they were still married, spent nearly $1 million on gold plated toilets for their mansion in Los Angeles' Bel Aire neighborhood, the Daily Mail reported.

Going for the gold

West and Kardashian paid $750,000 for their four gold toilets as part of a flamboyant renovation of a home they purchased for $9 million in 2013, according to Forbes. As for other celebrity toilet purchases, Ben Affleck famously paid $105,000 for a gem-encrusted toilet for Jennifer Lopez back in 2003. The toilet, which the Daily Star reported was designed by Ben Affleck, was covered in plastic so JLo would not be scuffed by the embedded rubies and sapphires, per SFGate.

However, these toilet purchases pale in comparison to the $3.5 million that Chinese tycoon, Lam Sai-wing, spent on a functioning all-gold toilet as part of his company's Hong Kong golden showroom in 2002. The toilet, built in honor of Sai-wing's idol Vladimir Lenin, was a tourist attraction until the chairman's sudden death in 2008, according to the South China Morning Post

In the art world, thieves stole a gold toilet worth about $6.5 million that was created by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan while it was displayed in Winston Churchill's former home in England during an art exhibit in 2019, per The Guardian. Prior to the theft, the toilet's owner, the Guggenheim Museum, had offered to loan the toilet to the White House, per the The Washington Post, during President Trump's first term. Fitting for a man who has since had a major influence on the price of gold.

The Toto toilet sought by household names

Outside of outrageous, and gold, toilets, Toto has gained its place among expensive celebrity purchases. Jennifer Lopez, along with celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Pamela Anderson, Tom Cruise, Will Smith, and Kate Hudson, have all flocked toward Toto's advanced Neorest NX2 model, per the U.S. Sun. With a retail price of $25,147, as of August 2025, the Neorest NX2 includes a trademarked Tornado Flush that creates a centrifugal cyclonic rinse designed to reduce waste buildup. Other features include smart self-cleaning tech, resistant ceramic glaze, an adjustable dual-action bidet spray, an automatic air deodorizer, a night light, and a temperature control heated seat.

With that said, it could be the smarter financial choice to instead spend that $25,000 on a 'recast' house payment that will lower your mortgage. Or, consider a less luxurious Toto model. For example, the Neorest NX1 also has the Tornado Flush and other features, but retails for about $14,600 instead. Plus, there are other Neorest models for sale at Toto USA that start at $6,600. If you'd rather stick to an ordinary toilet with the Toto name, there are options at e-commerce websites like Wayfair for less than $1,000.
