The Famous Singer That Spent $2 Million Dollars On A Humidifier

In 2002, Celine Dion was doing a three-year residency at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada and due to the dry desert climate, had the hotel install a million-dollar humidifier above the stage which cost the luxury casino, according to Showbiz Cheatsheet, $2 million. There are lots of expenses that go into putting a singer like Dion on stage – just check out how much Taylor Swift spent on insurance costs alone for her Eras tour – but a multimillion dollar humidifier is quite the extravagant line item.

Dion requested Caesar's to install the humidifier to protect her voice against the hot, dusty air and climate conditions Las Vegas is known for, though Women's Health suspects it was also part of the Canadian singer's secrets to maintaining an anti-aging routine. She's not alone, though, with the skin care and beauty industry generating $90 billion in revenues worldwide as of 2023 and is projected to bring in $236 billion by the year 2030, based on data from Statista. The majority of us do not have the clout or budget of Dion to request a humidifier installed at our place of business, but that doesn't mean we aren't spending money on how we look and feel.

The stint was part of Celine Dion's skincare (and voice care) routine

Celebrities are just like everybody else, except that they have more money to spend on their beauty routines. Celine Dion is known for going above and beyond to keep her singing voice and body up to performance shape. Dion has reportedly maintained her vocal health over a long career through consistent work with vocal coaches and by generally prioritizing her overall wellness, especially as she faces health challenges like stiff-person syndrome. She has always been known for her discipline and attention to vocal care, adjusting her technique — such as projecting more nasally and lowering song keys — as needed.

She's not alone. The Derm Review found that moisturizer was used daily by 90% of celebrities in 2021, with Victoria Beckham reportedly using up to 18 products for her daily skincare routine, costing the Spice Girl about $48,381 per year. That is nothing compared to Beyonce, who, according to OK! Magazine, was regularly spending up to $1,000 a day on skin treatments in 2015, adding up to a beauty routine that cost at least $1,000,000 if not more.

You probably do not have that much money to spend on keeping your appearance fresh and fine, but Real Simple highlighted that there are plenty of affordable skincare and beauty products available to keep you looking your best without emptying your wallet. Just make sure you buy these beauty care products in store and not online so you can test out what you like before you purchase any of them.
