US Airports That Have The Cheapest International Flight Deals
In summer 2025, the average round trip from the U.S. to Europe costs about $817, based on data from Hopper. However, in December 2023, travel blog Going tracked the best deals for international flights and found five major airports with low-cost seats all averaging under $500: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD).
Over the course of a year, JFK had 384 deals with an average roundtrip price of $469, LAX had 371 deals and an average of $482, Boston Logan had 336 deals and an average of $452, Dulles logged 323 deals and an average of $467, and O'Hare posted 321 deals with an average price of $471. Taking advantage of these flight deals can save you hundred of dollars, allowing that extra cash to go to funding other parts of your trip — like a weekend getaway to a beach town in Europe, or even to help you pay for tourist attraction splurges that are worth it. All in all, saving money on your flight can help you avoid money mistakes while traveling.
John F. Kennedy International Airport
From JFK, Norse Atlantic offers flights to London Gatwick, with one-way fares under $120 for late summer and early fall. Or, if you want to visit a more northern climate, Icelandair has round trips to Reykjavík from $329. You can also add a multi-day stop in Iceland to any Europe trip at no extra cost, which gives you more value for the same fare. Closer to home, JetBlue keeps flights to the Caribbean affordable with one-way fares from JFK to Santo Domingo available for around $174. This base fare includes Wi-Fi, live TV, and extra legroom, though Blue Basic does charge for checked bags. If you're heading to Central America, Avianca offers New York to San Pedro Sula for $99 each way. Even if you pay the extra $35 to check your bag, the round trip is still under $270.
JFK also has deals on flights to Africa. Air France lists round trips to Casablanca for $444 during shoulder-season weeks. Keep in mind, the fare you see is often just the starting point. Low-cost airlines often charge for extras, and even full-service carriers offer basic economy with significantly fewer offerings. Timing also plays a role, with the 2025 Air Hacks Report from Expedia finding that flying on a Thursday can cut fares by 15%. Many flash sales also appear late Tuesday nights, so set an alert and be ready to book fast.
Los Angeles International Airport
Travelers flying from LAX can get a round trip to London that costs just over $340 with Norse Atlantic. Flights to Paris run only slightly bit higher, and even a summer journey to Athens stays below $380. Your Norse seat comes with its own screen and USB port, and you can add a meal or step up to a premium recliner. These rates make LAX one of the smartest launch points for a budget-friendly trip to Europe.
Viva Aerobus also sells one-way seats from LAX to Cancún for about $145, so your round trip stays under $300 after taxes. Passengers can bring a personal item plus a 22-pound carry-on, enough for swimwear and sunscreen. Or, if you are planning a vacation inland, Volaris offers nonstop flights to Guadalajara from $79 each way. This basic fare still covers your carry-on, and you can add a small upgrade for unlimited date changes if you need more flexibility. Air Canada WebSaver fares let you fly to Vancouver for $93 one way, or to Montréal for $113. That keeps your round trip below $250 and you still get drinks, meals on longer trips, and seat-back screens for in-flight entertainment.
Boston Logan International Airport
Boston Logan keeps Europe close and affordable with three strong options. First, JetBlue flies to Paris for about $249 one way, keeping the round trip under $500 and you get gate-to-gate Wi-Fi, so you can plan your first café stop before you even land. Next, Aer Lingus can take you to Dublin for under $300 round trip, alongside a meal, drinks, and an included 10 kilogram carry-on (22 pounds). Meanwhile TAP Air Portugal flies to Lisbon for under $500, and its Portugal Stopover lets you spend up to ten days in Lisbon or Porto without paying more for the ticket.
For a warm-water break, JetBlue offers one-way flights from Boston to Aruba for around $169. The trip comes with roomy seats and free snacks, making the flight as easy as the beach day ahead. If you aim to visit the Dominican Republic, Arajet sells round-trip flights from Boston to Santo Domingo for about $265. Its Smart fare program includes a 6 kilogram (or 13 pound) personal item, which covers flip-flops and swimwear if you skip the checked bag. For a northern getaway, Air Canada's WebSaver brings Boston to Montréal flights down to the low $130s one-way. Even on short routes, you get free coffee or juice, seat-back entertainment, and a full refund if you need to cancel within 24 hours of originally booking.
Washington Dulles International Airport
Washington Dulles offers deals in every direction, especially during shoulder seasons like mid-September through early November, when crowds thin and prices drop. Heading to Reykjavík via Icelandair will cost you $329 for a round-trip that includes an in-flight seat-back screen, USB port, and a carry-on bag, even before you start chasing the northern lights. If you aim for mainland Europe, Scandinavian Airlines sells round-trip flights to Copenhagen for under $410. From there, it's a quick hop to Paris or Oslo. You'll also get free in-flight tea and coffee, and optional Wi-Fi if you need to stay online over the Atlantic.
To the south, Avianca offers Washington to Bogotá for about $143 one-way. The A320s come with 12-inch seat-back screens and USB charging at every seat, giving you a chance to brush up on your Spanish mid-flight. If you're heading west, Copa Airlines offers round trips to San José, Costa Rica for around $246, connecting through Panama City. Both allow you to include a personal item in the fare, and choosing a carry-on over a checked bag can keep your total costs down. For a quick international weekend, Porter Airlines flies direct from Washington to Toronto's Billy Bishop Airport for about $209 round trip. Flights run on Embraer jets with two-by-two seating, so no middle seats, and you can enjoy free craft beer, wine, and premium snacks on board.
Chicago O'Hare International Airport
Chicago O'Hare makes it possible to reach Europe, Latin America, and Canada at prices that feel closer to domestic flights — if you book with the right airline. Aer Lingus offers round trips to Dublin for about $408 this fall, and its Saver fare includes a meal, in-seat entertainment, and a 10 kilogram (22 pounds) carry-on bag. Icelandair lists nonstop flights to Reykjavík at $349, with a six-hour journey that includes a touch-screen, USB power, and one free carry-on. Fares to Central and Northern Europe also stay low; LOT Polish flies to Warsaw for under $420 and includes coffee or tea, and an 8 kilogram (17.5 pound) carry-on. If you take a round-trip from Chicago to Lisbon, via TAP Air Portugal, expect to pay 425 euros (or $497, as of July 2025).
On Spirit Airlines, you can get trips from Chicago to Lima around $486, but paying for a carry-on in advance can help keep the total low. United also often offers round trips to Guatemala City near $201, a solid pick if you want to participate in volcano hikes. You can also fly WestJet from Chicago to Calgary for as low as $169 round-trip. Economy comes with soft drinks, snacks, and free streaming through WestJet Connect.
