There comes a time in a person's life when they might decide they need to buy a truck. According to Woodstock Chevy, the Honda Ridgeline is one of the top five best used trucks that you can buy today — most notably the models released between 2017 and 2020. This is largely due to the introduction of a roomier interior, improved gas mileage, all-wheel drive, and upgrades to onboard technical features. If you have never owned a Honda, or a truck, before then a Ridgeline from these years can be a great place to start.

Trucks are used by different drivers for different reasons, depending on how you drive and what you need your vehicle to accomplish. Trucks like the 2023 RAM 2500 are great for retirees, as is the under $25,000 2024 Ford Maverick.

According to Edmunds, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline has a suggested retail price between $16,500 and $30,998. This model, along with those from 2018 through 2020, is not known for having the most towing capacity but, for the value, 5,000 pounds is nothing to scoff at. Plus, the overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration comes in at a solid 5-stars. The peace of mind that comes with buying a truck this highly regarded, not to mention reasonable in price, is priceless. CarEdge also noted that when it comes to maintenance, this truck comes in way below the industry average, with the estimated total for repairs in the first decade coming to roughly $8,844, and $2,818 in the first five years of ownership.

Like all vehicles, a truck can depreciate the moment you drive it off the lot. According to Kelley Blue Book, since 2022, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline has depreciated $10,146, or roughly 42%, making the current resale value around $13,991, or a trade-in value of $12,567.

Newer models, from later years, have even better resale values. In part because they typically have not been on the road for as long as earlier models, but also due to the fact that Honda crafted a well-made truck, only to refine and upgrade it along the way. J.D. Power lists the low end resale price for a 2020 Honda Ridgeline around $20,750, and the high at $23,500, depending on condition and mileage. However, average prices came to $22,250. So when you are looking to eventually pass your truck along to the next owner, you can expect to get a decent price.
