This Entry-Level Truck From 2023 Has A Remarkable 71% Resale Value

Car shopping can be tricky these days. You could try to find a new car to fit all your needs, while not breaking the bank, or even look for a used car to bypass some of Trump's tariffs. But, if you are in the market for a truck, it could be worth considering the vehicle's resale value.

MotorTrend highlighted that one of the best buys is the 2023 Jeep Gladiator, which has a 70% resale value, or the 2023 Gladiator Sport, which has a little extra resale value at 71%. It might surprise you to see that a Jeep brand truck is actually considered one of the best for resale value. However, in addition to having a higher towing capacity than the Jeep Wrangler, the Gladiator is equipped with both a removable roof and doors so that you can take it to the great outdoors for any camping, hiking, or wilderness adventures.

Pros and cons of the 2023 Jeep Gladiator

Every driver has different needs, though there are some standard features almost everyone behind the wheel wants — like safety, reliability, and the knowledge their car will not be easily stolen. When it comes to the 2023 Jeep Gladiator, Edmunds rated it 7.5 out of 10, and noted that the truck's Freedom Edition package comes with off-road upgrades and one of a kind styling that sets it apart from others. Additionally, operating costs are fairly average, with owners spending $304 a month, on average, on fuel. However, unlike some trucks, the fuel-efficiency on the Jeep Gladiator is only about 19 miles per gallon. On top of that, drivers have reported that the ride can be needlessly bumpy, even jittery, with a one-star review on Edmunds from 2024 calling the Jeep Gladiator "jerky and uncomfortable."

Still, if you are in the market for a truck with high resale value, you might want to consider the Gladiator. Kelley Blue Book found various styles of the truck that were originally listed at $44,015 can now be sold at a market suggested retail price of $31,502. Although the top-tier FarOutPick 4D 5 ft model goes for $42,866 used, down from it's original price of $72,520.

Shopping for a used car or truck

There are a lot of dos and don'ts when it comes to shopping for a new, used, or leased vehicle, but it really comes down to doing your research and setting a budget. Purchasing a used car can save you thousands of dollars, though you need to know exactly what condition the vehicle is in, and get a thorough history of what it has been through on the road.

Autotrader recommends that anyone considering buying a used truck get a full vehicle history report, as well as pay a mechanic to inspect under the hood for the integrity of the vehicle's parts, before buying. This extra step tends to be around $200 but can end up saving you money in maintenance and repairs down the line. Always be sure to give the truck a test drive in-person and avoid blindly purchasing from an online seller. If any part of the ride feels off to you, find a different used vehicle to purchase.
